Microteaching is a quick teaching session that lasts less than 10 minutes. It can be done in the office, in a meeting room or in a small classroom. Microteaching consists of the following three steps:
TIPS format



  1. Set is the beginning of your session where you catch the students attention by telling them the objective for the session and why they need to learn this.
  2. Body is the content the student needs to learn. Remember if you lecture to the student, they will remember 10% of what you say, but if you actively involve the student by dialogue and hands on experience, they will retain up to 70% of the content.   3. Closure is the end where you try to get the student to state one or two key take away messages and plan what their next learning steps will be.
