The administrator of the WetPaint site decides who has and who doesn't have status as a writer.
So the first step is confirming that you have status as a writer. Sign in to the site and if an EasyEdit button

appears in the upper left hand corner, you can continue with this tutorial. If it doesn't appear, contact the
Site Administrator.
Caution: WetPaint may not work well with the latest version of Internet Explorer, so you might want to switch to another browser.

Beginning to Edit: Text
When you click on the EasyEdit button, the EasyEdit toolbar appears.
The text tools available on the toolbar

will be familiar to all of you.

1. So take a minute, open this page (if it isn't already open, you can find a link on the Home page), click on the
EasyEdit button, type a sentence below and try out the text formatting tools.

3. Click
Save on the EasyEdit Toolbar and your changes appear.
TIP: WetPaint can be fussy when you want to reposition text by cutting and pasting into a new location on an IBM, so learn the following IBM shortcuts Control C to copy and Control V to paste.To add a link, highlight the word or image, you wish to make into a link and click the
Link button

. The following window will open:

If you want to link to a web page outside of WetPaint, copy the URL and paste it into
Link to: box.
If you want to link to another page already created in this wiki, click on the
Find Page button and all current content is listed.
Click
Add Link and you are done. To test the link, click
Save on the EasyEdit Toolbar and the link should take you to another page.
To add a table to the page, the
Table button

opens the following menu. Notice the red line, this is not the default setting but changing to "Fit to Page" means that no matter how large the reader's screen is the table will always fill the page.
Beginning to Edit: Images WetPaint stores all images used on your site in the Photos section listed at the top left of the WetPaint site. Save the page you were working on and take a look at the images that already exist on this site. You can use these images on your page or you can upload an image from your computer. Place your cursor where you want the image and use the Photo button located on the EasyEdit Toolbar. The following menu appears: Notice that a variety of images used in this tutorial are listed. You could use one of these by selecting it. orYou could create a slideshow of images by clicking on Add Slideshow at the far right. orYou could Search Yahoo! for copyright free images by clicking on the middle choice or
You could Upload New Photos from your computer or a website. We are going to upload an image from my computer.After choosing Upload New Photos, the following menu appears: The default is On my computer, so select browse and find the photo. I like to keep photos that I have selected for WetPaint in a folder on my desktop, because it is easy to locate.If you don't want to add the photo to the site gallery, uncheck the box at the bottom left.Click Add Photo, and the Title menu appears:The title menu is an accessibility feature for people who are using voice reader tools to access the page. Look at the menu in the upper left corner or use the table of contents on the home page to find the content page that introduces your topic. Type the name of your page on that content page in an appropriate spot (usually at the bottom or on a list of links). You will linkBeginning to your new page from here later. Save the page.At the bottom of the menu in the upper left hand corner, there is an Add a New Page button. Only use this button if you are currently on the content page you will link to. Once you click on theEdit: Add a New Page button, a new menu appears The name that you enter under Page Name: becomes the title of the page and appears at the top of the new page and in the side menu. Notice that if you did this step correctly, this new page is now included in the sub menu for the original content menu. Save the page.You can edit the name by clicking on the More Tools link at the top of the new page. To link the new page: Return to the original content page, highlight the page title, click the link button and find the new page. Save the original page and test the link.
